The Wolverhampton Wanders captain plays down any talk of a potential International call up from his country, stating that his focus is on his club - for the time being.
With England currently embarking upon their opening fixtures of the newly established Nations League qualifying campaign, manager Gareth Southgate claimed before the Summer that the 26-year-old was one of the players on his radar.
Conor Coady who was one of the standout figures for Wolves in gaining promotion last term earned plaudits with the defender earmarked for more than domestic success - however he remains level headed on his ambitions and progress.
He said: "You always enjoy the break, it is a tough division, a tough league, you have to take the breaks when they come [but an England call up) is not something I am thinking about to be honest.
"I just want to improve, get better, I need to improve a lot to play in the Premier League – it is as simple as that, so I think if I keep on improving and listening to the manager we will see where we will go."
With the international break halting his club's new found momentum, the former Liverpool youth player is hoping his nine teammates representing their countries return ready for action.
He continued: "We have a good team, some good talented boys, some really good boys who as people are fantastic as well, so we wish them all the best but just make sure they come back injury free and ready to come again next week."
Special victory
Wolves' return to the top flight ended a spell of six and a half years in the wilderness of the Championship and Coady describes the elation of his side's first win.
He said: "It was the best feeling in the world, we have waited a long time for it, we have played well in the first few games of the season but but to finally get it was special – especially before the international break as well, it would have been a long two weeks otherwise.
"We played well in the first few games, I think it is a little bit deceiving but it is about getting three points at the end of the day and we had not got that before Saturday so to finally get it was good and fortunately we played well."
